Picking up where I left off ...
So towards the end of last year my blood sugar #s were improving by coming down. Great... I figure I'll stay on that path and I can have the Pre Diabetes label/diagnosis removed and I can get on with my modified life to make sure I keep it away...
Then comes 2011. I go into my Dr in February and she does blood work... I then go in for a check up and she says... So, What has changed? I respond I've started a weight loss challenge at work and I am loosing weight... Oh, she says... Because your HbA1c #s have doubled! WTH? You have got to be kidding... FMH! How is that possible? I ask my Dr. To which she responds that hopefully the lab made some mistake and I needed to do more blood work... Nope... No mistake. Now she says I believe you might be Type 2 diabetic Well isn't that just great... so what does that mean? A pamphlet or two and I am on my merry way with an order to get an abdominal CT scan.
What my Dr told me was to get the scan what she didn't tell me was I would need to drink a Barium (Radiocontrast agent). Let me be the first to tell you that shit sucks... It tastes like room temperature liquid chalk. I also had an IV of a different contrast that wasn't too bad considering the Barium. CT done... Time to wait. I had a few co-workers ask me the next day how was last night? I'm confused, what are you talking about? The Barium. Was it as bad coming out as it was going in? Nah, no problems... until a few days later. lets just say it kept me awake in the bathroom for the better part of a night to the point that I didn't go into work the next day.
The results visit... I head back to my Dr. for the results of the CT scan, she wanted the CT scan to check on my pancreas. Where insulin in the body is made, Dr says it looks fine... But...We found a mass in your chest. WTF? Really your just joking with me right... No, you have a 2.5 cm mass on the right side of your chest near the right lung... Yep, FMH!
DASH, Deals With Life and Health... Among Other Things.
Sometimes you just have no control over things that happen in your life... Health included... So as opposed to saying "Fuck My Life" or "FML"... I'm coining a new phrase, Fuck My Health... Yep FMH!

Do to recent events...
I have decided to come out of blogtirement...
My last post was almost 4 years ago... Wow Times Flies... A lot has happened since my last post.
My 2nd son was born and my wife and I are expecting our 3rd in November.
My 2nd son was born and my wife and I are expecting our 3rd in November.
I need(ed) an outlet and in my mind this will allow me to do this.
Enough with the niceties and on to the real reason I have decided to pour my heart out to the keyboard and the internets. The past year or so has been fucked up for me health wise...
Damn near every time I went to the Dr in the past 18 months I have left with another ailment... and prescription for that matter...
High Blood Pressure (HBP)(Hypertension), Low Good Cholesterol (LGC), Swelling from the Meds and then finally Pre-Diabetes. Yeah, and I hadn't even had my 30th birthday yet...
HPB This is just in my genes being that I am Black... you need to just deal with it. The LGC on the other hand... who knows, still working on that one. The Pre-Diabetes... face it I'm "overweight" (read #fatkid)So you've got to change your eating habits and get more exercise... This is going to be tough but I'll see what I can do... So from about August of 2010 I changed my eating habits and cut out a lot of the sugar, starting with my morning cup of coffee... changed cold turkey to Splenda (which I still really don't like) and my blood sugar #s started to come down... and I think I am winning this battle with Diabetes... slowly but surely! There may still be hope for me yet.

BoneFish Grill
Last weekend my wife, son, and I decided to go out for a late lunch early dinner. We live in Baltimore and were headed out to Owings Mills MD to Cheeburger Cheeburger. To no avail we couldn't find it. It seems the place was closed and gone.
We were still hungry so in the same area where the Cheeburger Cheeburger should have been there were a few other restaurants, one of which was Bonefish Grill. I went in and grabbed a menu we decided it was a go. We go in... This place is NICE! Along the lines of Carabba's but more of a seafood focus where as Carraba's is Italian.
We had Bang Bang Shrimp as our appetizer. It was just the right amount of spicy and sweet. It wasn't spicy enough to send you reaching your glass of water but just enough to give it a nice kick of flavor.
I had the Filet Scampi, it was on the specials menu. This is my favorite thing to get when I go to Carabba's (Its not on the menu at Carraba's you have to ask for it). It was very good. My wife had fish, I can't think of the name of I think it was Grouper... but don't quote me on that. Jr, my son had shrimp and fries. My wife and I had some of his shrimp they were great, even though he didn't like them. He ate the batter off of them and spit the shrimp out, but he ate his fries and some of the veggies from my plate and a few tomatoes from my wife's.
What I thought...
Atmosphere: The place is brand new it seemed so everything was still VERY nice. I hope they can keep it up. It was more an upscale restaurant, so I think they will have to keep up that image.
Food: The food was very good aside from Jr. not liking the shrimp everything was great.
Child Friendliness: Because we have a young son (16 months) and one on the way it is very nice to see nicer restaurants that cater to more then those on first dates (parties of 2) and celebrating something (parties of 6 or more). For that reason alone it will be high on our last minute go out to dinner list.
Cost: You get what you pay for. Look to spend maybe $18 - $23 Avg. per person. Not too bad considering how nice the place was.
Overall: My wife and I really enjoyed Bonefish we were pleasantly surprised. Would we go again? Yes. Would we tell others about it? Yes.

I'm Back...
Alright so I started this blog a about a year and a half ago and I made a few posts but never really kept up with it. I have since given it some real serious thought and I will make it a point to post at least once a week. In order to try and keep you (Read ME) interested in this.

Please Welcome Dash to Blogging!
Well this is my first foray into blogging. I have been a reader of a few blogs here and there and though I might as well just go ahead and do it what have I got to lose. I have my $0.02 to add every now and then to whatever. I don't really know what the content of this blog will be just yet but I think I'll muddle my way though!
